Residential Mortgage Loan Originator
Job Purpose & Scope Responsible for facilitating the growth and success of our lending operations by harnessing the Bank’s internal resources and leveraging your expertise in mortgage originations. Responsibilities include converting internally generated mortgage leads, originating employee loans, and expanding our business through proactive engagement with past customers and their network of industry professionals. Essential Job Functions + Convert internal leads generated by the Bank into mortgage loans. This involves timely and professional communication with potential borrowers, assessing their needs, and guiding them through the loan process. + Originating mortgage loans for our Bank’s employees. + Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with past customers and their network of professionals. + Create rapport and trust with customers and referring partners. + Counsel with customers to identify mortgage loan needs and options. + Assist in the processing and closing of the loan in a professional manner that is profitable to the bank and creates customer loyalty. + Accurately complete and deliver initial disclosures. + Take complete, accurate, and compliant loan applications. + Order credit reports and resolve all discrepancies. + Input loan information into computer systems. + Utilize Automated Underwriting Systems for decisioning loans. + Order appraisals. + Cross-sell the customer on the use of other Bank products. + Proactively communicate loan status and progress to the customer. + Analyze property appraisals for Investor compliance. + Travel on Bank business. + Regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of essential job functions. + Maintains good punctuality and attendance to work. + Follows Bank policy, procedures, and guidelines. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities + Knowledge of lending criteria/business needs, lending systems, and regulatory/investor lending guidelines + Knowledge of loan origination needs and milestones (i.e., origination, processing, underwriting, closing, products, vendor interfaces) + Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing + Ability to work without close supervision. + Ability to demonstrate effective critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills. + Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with exacting deadlines. + Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. + Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and bank secrecy. + Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills. + Skill in using computer and Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Basic Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree or commensurate work experience required. + 2+ years’ residential mortgage experience, required. + Experience working in Encompass, preferred.
