POSITION SUMMARY:

The Residential Advocate/Shift Worker is responsible for the safety of all residents on the Safe House Campus as well as ensuring victim services are provided. Shift Workers report directly to the Program Coordinator.

Job Type/Status: Full-Time

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure the safety and security of the Safe House Campus

Answer all hotline calls/administrative calls/Women Referral Calls, offering crisis-intervention, phone counseling, information and referrals for victims and survivors of sexual violence and domestic violence.

Provide victims with case-related medical and legal information and referrals.

Document all calls in Awards and on appropriate logs/google sheets.

Provide intake for incoming residents and complete procedures with residents.

Engage residents assisting them in following Safe House Expectations.

Maintain residential client files and Awards documentation.

Assist all residents with the requirements needed to ensure their well-being.

Provide house meetings for residents

Assist with maintaining the Safe House, including cleaning, organizing, photocopies and completing daily duties

Assist with on-call schedule as required.

Accompany victims to hospitals, law enforcement agencies and court.

Stay current on all program trainings.

Assist with office procedures pertinent to the operations of the program.


REQUIREMENTS: 

The Shift Worker/Residential Advocate must successfully complete 60-hour Domestic Violence training and the New Jersey State Confidential Sexual Violence Advocate Training provided by Services Empowering Rights of Victims (SERV). The Shift Worker/Residential Advocate will have experience in advocacy, crisis-intervention and counseling and demonstrate sensitivity toward the needs of victims. Shift Workers will have experience working with people, especially on a one-to-one basis. Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.  A minimum of 60 college credits or work experience and a high school diploma required.
