One California (https://youtu.be/RrPuiSnALJY?si=pvQgPZ6ZWZM60TPV) **Responsibilities** St. Mary Medical Center participates in the NRMP program in which participants agree to abide by the NRMP match requirements and guidelines No prior residency experience required for first year position. For second year need to have completed 1 year (12 months) of residency. For third year need to have completed 2 years (24 months) of residency. California law requires residents to obtain an independent practitioner?s license (Physician and Surgeon license) if they are graduates of a US medical or osteopathic school and have completed 2 years of residency training in the US. This license MUST be in effect before the 3rd year of residency training can commence. International medical graduates MAY apply for an independent practitioner?s license after successful completion of 2 years of residency training that includes at least 4 months of direct patient care; however they are NOT REQUIRED to possess that license until completion of their 3rd year of residency training. PGY-2s have roughly 3 months of inpatient rotations divided between Medicine Wards and ICU. The remaining months are spent in subspecialty consultation or outpatient clinic rotations. Cardiology combined Neurology and Nephrology Consult service and Pulmonary rotations are based at St. Mary Medical Center. Pulmonary Consult Cardiology Consult Infectious Disease General Medicine Consult Endocrinology Hematology-Oncology and Gastroenterology are based at Harbor-UCLA. Overnight call is typically once a week. Residents also rotate through the night float service 2 weeks at a time once or twice each year. Outpatient months are spent at a variety of clinics in the South Bay area including: St. Mary Medicine Clinic Harbor-UCLA Outpatient Clinics (Rheumatology Dermatology Diabetes Clinic Womens Health) Kaiser-Permanente (Ophthalmology Dermatology) and Private Practice Offices (Allergy and Immunology Endocrinology Psychiatry Adolescent Care). **Qualifications** Opened to Matched Residents only through NRMP program. + (Medical Doctor) degree or D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathy) degree from accredited University. Graduate of LCME accredited medical school AOA accredited osteopathic medical school or acceptable equivalent medical school (at the discretion of the internship selection committee and Program Director). + Interest in post-graduate training in Internal Medicine + Acceptable performance in medical school as judged by Deans Letter letters of recommendation transcripts or other evaluation criteria. Acceptable performance on USMLE or COMLEX licensing examinations (USMLE 1 and 2 COMLEX 1 and 2) or equivalent examination acceptable to the internship selection committee and Program Director Acceptable score on in-person interview with faculty member. + Credentials and evaluations verified and acceptable to Program Director + No prior residency experience required for first year position. For second year need to have completed 1 year (12 months) of applicable residency training.
