Expected to understand underlying concepts of experimental design and to implement these concepts under direct supervision A Researcher position is currently available in the Center of Excellence for Leukemia Studies (CELS) of the Comprehensive Cancer Center at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. CELS is dedicated to understanding the mechanisms that drive the development and response to therapy of pediatric hematologic malignancies. We are seeking a motivated, efficient, and organized researcher with a strong background in sample processing and analysis to join our research flow cytometry core. In this role, you will provide basic lab operation support to investigators by maintaining and operating multiple pieces of flow cytometry equipment, including fluorescence-activated cell sorters and analyzers. Candidates should be able to perform and coordinate a wide range of laboratory procedures and conduct support tasks as determined by investigator research. Duties will include sample processing for flow cytometry, daily calibration, maintenance and operation of research equipment, development of efficient laboratory operations, flow cytometry panel design, data acquisition analysis and generation of reports. The position will involve interaction with scientists and trainees from multiple laboratories and training of new staff. Prior experience with sample processing is essential. The ability to work efficiently, multitask and communicate effectively are integral to success in this position. Job Responsibilities: Performs laboratory experiments as directed using specific and prescribed techniques/protocols. Follows basic protocols, implementing experimental techniques prescribed by supervisor and providing basic troubleshooting where appropriate. Accurately records experimental procedures and data. May draft results/data for posters, presentations or publications Operates lab equipment.
