Summary of Job Duties:Newly established laboratory in the Biomedical Research Building II on the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences main campus seeks a highly motivated and enthusiastic Research Technologist to assist in laboratory research in the field of cardio-metabolic disease with a focus on lipoproteins and dyslipidemia.

Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a science related field plus two (2) years of experience in research laboratory testing and analysis required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Preferred Qualifications:

Responsibilities:

Performs routine laboratory work (pipetting, preparation of media/reagents, dish washing, autoclaving)Isolates lipoproteins from human and animal blood (density-gradient ultracentrifugation, size-exclusion chromatography). Perform chemical analysis of isolated lipoproteinsGrows and maintain eukaryotic cells in culture and perform experiments with direction from the PIConducts bacterial cloning experiments and assist in the production of recombinant proteins in bacterial expression systems.Isolation of RNA and generation of high-throughput RNA sequencing libraries.Extraction of proteins and analysis by immuno-blot (Western blot).Manages and maintain a chemical/supply inventory.Assists with maintenance of a mouse colony, management of mouse databases.Ensures compliance with safe laboratory practices and audits.May perform other duties as assigned.
