Research Technician IV

Responsibilities
**General Purpose:**
Performs and assists service center users with human imaging studies. Operates the 3T MRI scanner and auxiliary equipment, provides expert care to research participants, serves as a resource, consults as requested and communicates effectively with all internal and external customers. The MRI research technician will perform MRI exams safely, efficiently, and of high quality. The position is located at the UR CABIN, and is under the direction of the UR CABIN Director and lead MRI technologist.
**Responsibilities:**
Independently operates MRI scanner and assists center users with human MRI experiments. Sets up and utilizes all MRI equipment including imaging coils, patient monitoring systems, and related articles. Performs appropriate MRI examination on properly identified research participant in a safe and timely manner.
Reviews and monitors exam schedule and provides technical communication as needed
Reviews MRI registration and screening form thoroughly to confirm safe access into magnet room
Performs all archiving, and network data management for each research participant scanned. Retrieves old MRI data for restoration or networking if needed
Evaluates image quality by troubleshooting scanner or coil, identifies and compensates for imaging artifacts. Learns new techniques with each subsequent scanner upgrade
Communicates all pertinent research participant information to necessary researchers and their students and staff
Maintains the MRI scanner and control room, keeping the area clean, and the equipment in working condition, informs lead about ordering and maintaining supplies.

**Requirements** :
Required:
High School diploma or equivalent
Experience with human research
7 years of relevant experience
Highly organized, self-motivated and capable of working independently in a collaborative setting and motivated to learn new skills
Computer literacy
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred:
Experience with human research
Associates degree (preferred)
Prior experience with MRI scanner usage
Computer skills, including Windows/Linux operating systems, data storage and transfer, and basic image processing software

**Pay Range**
Pay Range: $23.06 - $32.29 Hourly
_The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job¿s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._
