Job SummaryThe University of Michigan has an exciting and enriching opportunity available for a responsible, organized, and motivated individual. Our office is hiring a Research Technician Intermediate to work on a long running stroke research project. NOTE: THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS.
Responsibilities*Abstract health information from participating patient's paper or electronic medical record from area hospitals; enter abstracted data into standard data collection tool, completing required diagnostic and procedure coding.Work with hospital staff to pull participating patient's medical record according to study protocol and arrange for all data abstraction forms and reference material Maintain patient information confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.Conducts baseline interview of identified patients; verifying abstracted patient information and documenting patient's medical experience.Conducts outcome interviews of patients at 3 months.Setups study material for scheduled participant interviews; organizes and maintains collected participant research data.Schedules participant appointments and conducts appointment reminder calls.Participates in weekly research meetings and communicates routine correspondence in regards to abstraction and interview statusOther duties as assignedRequired Qualifications*High school or equivalent and/or associate. 1-2 years of experience.
Desired Qualifications*Bilingual (Spanish/English) to serve Spanish-speaking population. Research experience and/or minimum of 2 years college, LVN or other medical degree.
The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan.
