The lab of Dr. Dimitrios Davalos at the Department of Neurosciences of the Lerner Research Institute of Cleveland Clinic is looking to hire a Research Technician or Research Technologist to work in a highly interactive and diverse research lab. This is a position in a neuroscience laboratory with a focus on advanced imaging research using mouse models of multiple sclerosis, stroke, brain tumor, alcohol abuse, and other neurological diseases. The successful candidate will assist with mouse colony maintenance and genotyping, general lab duties, protocol and compliance responsibilities, and will be proactively involved in assigned research projects. Although prior experience in a research lab is highly preferred, training and supervision will be provided. The skills and experience acquired from this position could provide excellent background for pursuing medical or graduate school or a successful career in a research technologist track. A minimum commitment of 2-3 years is strongly preferred.

**A caregiver in this position works 8:30AM - 5:00PM.**
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Perform laboratory techniques and procedures required for experimental studies.
+ Perform technical lab duties.
+ Schedule and perform various analyses.
+ Assist with establishing and scheduling various procedures and analyses.
+ Prepare reagents, purify chemicals, and identify, separate and quantify various substances.
+ Conduct testing and procedures utilizing laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
+ Accumulate data from analyses.
+ Prepare charts, graphs, statistical tables, publications, grant proposals and applications for research forms.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ High school diploma or GED.
+ 2 years of experience in a research or related laboratory environment OR an associate's degree in a laboratory science field and 1 year of work experience OR a bachelor's degree.
Preferred qualifications
+ Prior experience in neuroscience, immunology, vascular biology, molecular or cellular biology, or related biomedical research laboratory preferred
+ Experience in handling mouse colony or using advanced microscopy equipment also preferred, but not essential.
+ Master's degree and one or more years of prior research exposure to the fields of neuroscience, immunology, vascular biology, molecular or cellular biology or related field is preferred

**Physical Requirements:**
+ Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
+ Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment

+ Manual dexterity to handle specimens and repair equipment
+ Ability to lift and transport equipment or specimens weighing up to 20 pounds
+ May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, bio-hazards, radioactive materials, etc.

Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $18.88
Maximum hourly: $28.80
