The Department of Neurology at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Research Scientist to join a dynamic research team investigating immune responses in neurological disorders. The primary responsibility of this Research Scientist position is to conduct research on immune responses in neurological disorders, including cerebral ischemia, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and vascular contributions to cognitive impairment and dementia (VCID). The research aims to identify molecular therapies to reduce injury, enhance repair, and improve overall disease outcomes, with a focus on potential clinical translation.
This role requires expertise in advanced in vivo techniques, including rodent models of stroke and TBI, behavioral assessments, biochemistry, and immunohistochemistry. The Research Scientist will lead 1–2 projects at a time and contribute to other ongoing studies. Additional responsibilities include analyzing data, preparing publications, and mentoring junior lab members. Given the specialized nature of the techniques and the limited availability of qualified personnel, this role is essential for advancing the department’s research objectives.
