Research Scientist, Biomedical Engineering

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Virginia is seeking candidates for Research Scientist at Dr. Evan Scott's Lab

 

Research Scientists in Dr. Scott's lab are crucial members of a dynamic team, expected to perform tasks independently once objectives and methodologies are established. Candidates should have a robust background in biomedical engineering or a closely related field, coupled with the ability to lead small research groups.

This position is classified as Senior Professional Research Staff and is based at the University of Virginia's main campus in Charlottesville, VA. While this role does not involve formal teaching responsibilities, the incumbent will have ample opportunities to engage in high-impact research activities and collaborate with leading experts in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct independent research with minimal supervision.

Lead small research teams in achieving project objectives.

Collaborate effectively with other research staff and team members.

Maintain detailed documentation of all research activities.

Ensure the reliability and validity of all experimental data.

Contribute to the preparation of scientific papers and research proposals.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a doctoral degree or master's degree with significant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline.

Demonstrated expertise in the field of biomedical engineering.

Proven track record of leading research projects and teams.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

This position will remain open until filled.  The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment.  A completed pre-employment health screen is required for this position prior to employment.
