Job Summary
Working under the supervision of the Director of Research and Innovation and following established policies and procedures, assists and manages research operations in simulation, technology, and clinical research studies at the STRATUS Center for Medical Simulation / Medical AI & Cognitive Engineering (MAICE) Lab. The Research Program Manager may be responsible for the following activities: recruiting and evaluating subjects for studies; collecting and managing data; scheduling research sessions and meetings; consenting participants, developing study materials and databases; supporting data analysis; preparing, writing, and submitting research grants, manuscripts, and IRB protocols; coordinating research meetings, organizing research inventories and purchasing research material, supplies, and equipment; supervising research assistants and other research staff.
Qualifications
1. Coordinate the implementation, both internally and externally, of simulation, technology, and clinical research studies. It includes supporting research operations management and coordinating activities with multi-site national and international collaborators.
2. Screen eligible research subjects, ensuring they meet appropriate criteria, and making independent judgments as to the suitability of their participation; Per protocol instruction, conduct telephone, virtual, or in-person interviews, and schedule study times/ access and meetings.
3. Work with the Director of Research and Innovation to develop and implement participant recruitment strategies.
4. Responsible for collecting data and maintaining databases for studies. May be required to input data, perform data analysis, and run various analyses and reports.
5. Maintain subjects’ records as part of record-keeping function.
6. Develop, organize, and/or maintain study databases, responsible for data validation and quality control.
7. Manage digital technology devices, track the research inventory database, set up experiments and digital systems, and instruct participants on how to use devices.
8. Perform video observations and event/behavior annotations.
9. Develop and implement new research protocols including design, data collection systems, and institutional review board (IRB) applications.
10. Interact with subjects about the study, including subject education, procedural instruction, consent, and follow-up. May serve as a liaison between the subject and PI.
11. Answer any phone calls or email inquiries regarding study protocol. Refers participants when appropriate to PI or other research staff.
12. Perform literature research, and conduct systematic reviews of the literature, as appropriate.
13. Assist PI or others with preparation for presentation and written published articles.
14. Expertly operate audiovisual systems and possess the ability to train others in the use of audiovisual, research software and hardware systems. Expert operation of the audiovisual system includes startup, utilizing all features of a given system, troubleshooting issues as they arise, and performing updates as necessary.
15. Responsible for training and orienting new research staff.
16. Manage and track all grant finances, including purchasing, procurement, consultants, Core services and other related activities.
17. Participate in training, orienting, and coordinating new research staff and research fellows.
18. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctorate degree (e.g. MD, PhD, DSc) with strong quantitative skills and medical/clinical background. Previous postdoctoral experience (minimum of 2 years) in a hospital and /or medical school is preferred.
