Learn more about what we do in Houston here. **What role you will play in our team** ExxonMobil Technology and Engineering is seeking a research engineer / scientist to join an enthusiastic team of scientists and engineers responsible for developing and validating novel technologies for the treatment and management of produced water. This position will be based in Spring, Texas. **What you will do** + Design and execute applied research projects. Identify, develop, test, deploy and optimize treatment processes and novel technologies to remove contaminants and facilitate the safe reuse of produced water. + Interpret and assess water chemistry data. + Develop and use models to aid in produced water treatment process design, predict water quality and chemical speciation as well as fate and transport of pollutants in produced water. + Collaborate with internal (environmental, regulatory, operations) and external (academia, industry trade groups and other research institutions, etc.) stakeholders to execute high-value research projects, improve produced water treatment/desalination and develop comprehensive produced water management strategies. + Evaluate the cost effectiveness of different treatment options and optimize processes to increase effectiveness and reduce costs. + Effectively present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Prepare detailed reports and presentations on research activities. Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals + Serve as a subject matter expert on topics related to produced water treatment, supporting operations and applicable business units. **Skills and Qualifications** + Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related disciplines + Ability and interest to work on abstract problems and create novel solutions. + Excellent project management and communication skills (written and oral), including an ability to communicate technical information to non-scientists. + Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills. **Preferred Qualifications/Experience** + Master's or PhD. preferred. **Your benefits** **An ExxonMobil career is one designed to last.
