IDC US/IDC Canada is seeking a Research Director to join our established Cloud and Edge Infrastructure research practice, focusing on Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).

 

This dynamic individual will work closely with technology vendors and other analyst teams, driving research in key areas such as public cloud compute (virtualized and bare metal), public cloud storage (file, block, and object), and on-premises cloud infrastructure. This senior member of IDC’s infrastructure research team will be responsible for supporting ongoing research, market forecasts, custom consulting, and Go-To-Market services.

This position is based in IDG’s Needham, MA office. We will consider remote candidates from an approved US office location. We will consider remote approved Canadian locations (Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia) or in the Greater Toronto area. 

Responsibilities Develop and publish a comprehensive body of thought-provoking research on all aspects of the IaaS industry and market. This includes developing taxonomies, market share and forecast reports, vendor reports, technology assessments, end user reports and market perspectives.Propagate IDC’s point of view to the broader industry with the goal of establishing IDC as a market research leader in IaaS. This includes developing and delivering presentations on current and future industry trends, impact on vendors, and guiding IDC clients on the current and future state of the market. It also includes speaking at industry conferences and vendor events.Work with IDC colleagues to ensure the IaaS coverage is well rounded in terms of quantitative and qualitative, IT supplier and end user, decision maker and investor, and vertical industry specific coverage. Cultivate and manage executive-level relationships with customers, prospects, and other key industry players in the cloud IaaS market. Qualifications

 

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred10+ years' experience in market research, product management, or product marketingKnowledge of cloud instance types, storage services, and on-premises cloud solutions from leading providers such as AWS, Microsoft, Google.Insights into hybrid and multicloud deployment models and the impact AI will have on cloud infrastructure.Research and/or marketing professional with good knowledge of market analysis frameworks such as market sizing models, market segmentation and competitive intelligenceExcellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to analyze, present and articulate complex data setsGood interpersonal and organizational skills and the capacity to work both independently and within a team

Salary range and additional compensation, including discretionary bonuses and incentive pay, are determined by a rigorous review process. This process considers the experience, education, certifications, and skills required for the specific role, equity with similarly situated employees, as well as employer-verified US region-specific market data provided by an independent 3rd party partner. The expected total annual compensation, depending on location and experience, is between $145,000 and $165,000 USD and is inclusive of base salary and variable compensation (if applicable).

 

Compensation for IDC Canada will be determined based on current market data for CAD dollars.
