The CertainTeed Gypsum Raw Material and Formulation team is seeking a driven, talented, and energetic Research Chemist to join their dynamic group. Working under the supervision of a Senior Research Chemist, the individual in this role will be involved in developing and optimizing joint compound formulations, evaluating raw materials, enhancing processes and products, and supporting all production sites across North America. Additionally, this individual will develop new laboratory methods to better align with final applications. **RESPONSIBILITIES:** + Conduct safe and detailed laboratory testing according to standard operation practices and assist in the development and optimization of joint compound formulations. + Complete tasks in formulation, product testing, and process improvement. + Assist with the development of new lab methods and standard procedures. + Exceptional attention to detail in all aspects of work with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. + Compile and summarize test data in reports or presentations and communicate results within the R&D team. + Maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment; operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments. + Develop sustainable solutions within the R&D, operations, and technical teams. + Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material Science. + Proficiency in relevant computer software and laboratory tools. + Demonstrated knowledge in laboratory safety. + Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. + Exceptional attention to detail in all aspects of work. + Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
