Your Team

The Baxter Extractables and Leachables (E&L) team applies analytical expertise to sustain life saving products on the market and ensure progression of the diverse product portfolio of Baxter . This position will perform chemical analysis (gas chromatography mass spectrometry) as part of the chemical characterization (E&L) of pharmaceutical packaging, medical devices, and delivery systems to meet the regulatory requirements across Baxter’s port.

What you'll be doingDirectly own the chemical characterization of E&L by performing laboratory testing activities and associated data interpretationInput, author, and/or contribute to experimental protocols and reports with a high level of expertiseResponsible for chemical analysis applying GC/MS as well as other applicable techniques including GC/FID and HS-GC/MSPerform method qualification / time of use validation for E&L methodsEvaluate analytical results, identify trends/exceptions/interpretation of results relative to product requirements, definitions, and/or project goalsProficient in interpreting sophisticated analytical data and presenting in a form that is suitable for a wide-ranging audienceDocument analytical work per good documentation requirements (e.g., ALCOA)Routinely share results and findings and provide assistance to team members regarding project workDemonstrate understanding of and adherence to governmental and international industry requirements, procedures, regulations, and standards applicable E&L standards and guidelines (e.g., ISO 10993 part 18, USP )Able to communicate clearly with manager, peers, cross-functional teammates, and non-technical audiences by openly sharing project status and hurdles while seeking input from other team membersWhat you'll bringBachelor’s degree in a scientific field (such as Analytical or Organic chemistry) with 5-7+ years, MS with least 3-5+ years, or PhD with 0-3+ years of experience in relevant subject areaExperience in E&L testing, study design, Environmental Chemistry testing, and/or trace organic analysis testing requiredExpertise in gas chromatography required; knowledge of GC/MS instrument operation and associated data interpretation requiredKnowledge and application of analytical chemistry with relevant laboratory skills. Wet chemical techniques and instrumental analysis preferred.Experience working in a regulated pharmaceutical environment required. (e.g., cGXP)A good understanding of ICH, USP guidelines, and cGxP practice.Proven knowledge of with MassHunter, UNIFI, Empower, and other analytical instruments software systemsAbility to learn quickly and to tackle problems in a timely manner using analytical chemistry skillsAbility to design experiments and draw substantial conclusions from lab dataExperience in working in global cross-functional teams and project management is a plusQuality oriented
