As a Research Associate, this individual will be responsible for independently contributing to and participating in ongoing research projects in the Center for Embryonic Cell and Gene Therapy. This includes assisting in developing and evaluation of novel gene and cell therapy approaches. The primary focus of this position will be investigating and optimizing delivery of gene editing constructs in vivo in mice into specific brain regions using molecular and cellular approaches, as well as sample collection, processing and analysis. The candidate will participate in mouse colony maintenance, in vitro and in vivo experiments, mouse surgical and neurosurgical procedures, histology procedures, immunocytochemistry, cell culture, and molecular assays. Participate in purchasing of equipment and supplies and communicating with scientific and support staff.  Perform a variety of duties, which require flexibility, judgment, and unique experience in the field of cell therapy. Contribute to written reports, abstracts, project proposals and scientific presentations. Appointee will participate in the on-call schedule including intermittent evening, weekend, and holiday coverage.

Required Qualifications Master's Degree in relevant field AND 3 years of relevant experience OR
Bachelor's Degree in relevant field AND 5 years of relevant experience3 years of relevant research experience, with demonstrated research or clinical experience in cell biology, neurobiology, cell culture and histology.

Knowledge of neurobiology and histology.

Must think strategically and work accordingly producing effective results and working efficiently within the time constraints of the position; able to analyze, integrate and interpret output results. Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral formats; ability to work independently and in small group settings. Ability to interact in a positive and productive manner and to work efficiently and skillfully with a variety of diverse staff; ability to prioritize work demands and coordinate research protocols with other staff; organizational skills and careful attention to details to satisfactorily complete and perform job duties.
