Job Description
The College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR) at Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) is inviting applications for a 9-month non-tenure track Research Associate Professor position in female Ruminant Reproductive Physiology & Associate Director of the International Goat Research Center (IGRC). The successful candidate will lead original, multidisciplinary research in molecular, cellular, and reproductive developmental biology, endocrinology, genomics, epigenomics, and systems physiology focused on female ruminant reproductive biology. The ideal candidate will possess advanced expertise in the relevant areas including but not limited to reproductive physiology, particularly in ovarian function, folliculogenesis, synchronization to enhance pregnancy in small ruminants, application of advanced imaging and artificial intelligence in sheep and goat reproduction, fertility biomarkers, embryo development, and developmental programming. A proven record of high-quality research publications, securing external research funding, and professional achievements, including student mentorship, is required.
The candidate will play a relevant role in the university's strategic mission to enhance research engagement and excellence, supporting the transition from R2 to R1 status. In addition to leading independent research, the candidate will contribute to graduate teaching and course development, nurturing the next generation of experts in reproductive physiology. The position will involve extension outreach to integrate research outcomes into practice, supporting livestock industries. The position is funded through USDA and offers a competitive salary based on experience. Continued employment will be contingent upon meeting research performance metrics, including securing external funding and demonstrating successful research outcomes.

Responsibilities:
+ Assist the IGRC Director in leadership and management of the Center. Lead an independent research program in female reproductive physiology, ovarian biology, molecular mechanisms of reproduction, and embryonic development in ruminants.
+ Integrate multidisciplinary research approaches, including genomics, epigenomics, and systems physiology, to advance understanding of reproductive health. Secure external research funding from agencies such as USDA, NIH, and other grant sources. Publish research findings in high-impact journals and present at national and international scientific conferences.
+ Contribute to developing and improving undergraduate and graduate courses in reproductive biology and molecular physiology, including mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
+ Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams within the university and other institutions to enhance the impact of research and expand collaborative efforts. Engage in outreach activities, translating research into practical applications for livestock management and contributing to extension initiatives.
+ Contribute to developing and improving undergraduate and graduate courses in reproductive biology and molecular physiology, including mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. Develop and maintain laboratory operations, managing research staff, and ensuring compliance with university and federal guidelines. Participates in college-wide activities.
Required Education and Experience:
+ Ph.D. in Reproductive Physiology, Molecular Genetics, Animal Science, or a closely related field.
Required Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
+ Advanced expertise in female fertility, ovarian function, and reproductive endocrinology.
+ Demonstrated success in securing competitive research grants and a track record of high-quality publications.
+ Experience in laboratory management and research project leadership.
+ Strong written and oral communication skills, with a proven ability to mentor student sand collaborate with research teams.
+ Expertise in immunohistochemistry, siRNA/shRNA or CRISPR/Cas9 techniques, microscopy, and molecular biology.
+ Strong project management and laboratory management experience.
+ Excellent communication and outreach abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience in reproductive technologies, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), embryo transfer, and cryopreservation in small ruminant species.
+ Experience securing extramural funds with funding agencies like USDA, NIH, and others
+ Leadership in program management and interdisciplinary research collaborations.
+ Strong commitment to mentoring students and promoting multiplicity in STEM fields.
