Project Description: Investigate firm dynamics of entry, exit, and growth, and firms’ organizational choices over time in Istanbul between 1923 and 1950. 

RA Tasks: Use OCR data extraction tools such as Amazon Textract or Google Cloud AI to extract data from scanned historical sources, convert them into a clean spreadsheet. 

Prerequisites: RAs must be comfortable using data extraction tools and must have attention to detail to identify and clean the mistakes that these tools make. Proficiency with Python is not required but encouraged. Proficiency with Turkish is not required but that means the RAs must be extra careful in identifying discrepancies between the source material and the extracted data.
