UW faculty and staff also enjoy outstanding benefits, professional growth opportunities and unique resources in an environment noted for diversity, intellectual excitement, artistic pursuits, and natural beauty. **The Neurological Surgery Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Analyst 1 to join their team.** **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** + Performs a variety of routine tasks that are planned to provide experience and familiarization with the technical professional staff, methods, practices, and programs of the unit/laboratory/department. + Solves well-defined problems using accepted methods and techniques. + Conducts experiments or tests in the laboratory/field that include making measurements and recording data. + Contributes data for use in reports and publications. + Networks primarily limited to own technical peer group; establishes productive relationships with co-workers, customers/grant sponsors, and others to accomplish team objectives. + No defined role in identifying/securing research funding.Responsibility for directing others: + Usually none. May guide the work of peers, technicians or other support staff as necessary to achieve specific assignments.Cerebrovascular Neurological Surgery Laboratory Research: + Under guidance of an experienced scientist, will support the work of peers, technicians, and other staff in the cerebrovascular neurological surgery research lab on research projects involving faculty, staff, and collaborators.Cerebrovascular Neurological Surgery Clinical Research: + Will support the Department of Neurological Surgery's cerebrovascular clinical research efforts to include multiple extramurally-funded studies, investigator initiated studies, as well as some industry-sponsored trials. + Will support the work of peers or other staff in the design and implementation of cerebrovascular neurological surgery research. **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS** + Bachelor’s Degree including college-level course work in statistics or one year of work experience in statistics, analysis, or research OR equivalent education/experience. **DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS** + Bachelor’s Degree in Science + Minimum 1 year of experience performing routine scientific work in a research laboratory, including electronic medical records review + Minimum 1 years of direct patient interaction, highlighting experience with gathering detailed medical history to generate patient-focused reports in a clinical setting + Experience performing routine scientific work in a cerebrovascular neurosurgery research laboratory + Direct patient interaction, highlighting experience with gathering detailed medical history to generate patient-focused reports in a clinical setting + Experience with medical data entry and validation and electronic medical record data abstraction. Strong verbal and written communicator within a clinical setting + Previous experience mentoring undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students in development of technical laboratory skills + Upper division coursework in developmental, cellular/molecular biology and genetics + Must have demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience in team management + Demonstrate accurate and logical record maintenance of scientific data, as well as general organization, focus and attentiveness to assigned tasks University of Washington is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer.
