Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it. **Job Summary:** This position is for an Autonomy Engineering Specialist working in a technical leadership role for Remote Control systems within the Surface Handling Autonomy and Remote-Control group. The individual hired for this position will work as part of an engineering team to design, develop, integrate, and test robust, scalable features on embedded electronic control systems and vision system for use in remote control machine applications. We have a fabulous team that does some of the most exciting work at Caterpillar, and we can’t wait for you to join the team! **What You Will Do:** + Design, develop, Maintain Remote Control system for new/existing Caterpillar machine programs + Gather and document requirements specifications for remote control features + Work with RTOS, Linux based embedded systems to develop remote control features + Issue resolution through triage and troubleshooting + Test plan development and software validation + Collaborate with cross-functional teams including, but not limited to, Software development teams, Product groups, Hardware, Validation and Product Support + Ensure compliance of the system and software with industry standards, functional safety & cybersecurity guidelines. + Ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse work group **Education requirement:** Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent technical field. **What skills you will have:** **Technical Excellence:** + Working knowledge in the areas of robotics, remote control, or autonomy + Working knowledge with datalinks (CAN, Ethernet, etc.) and associated tools (CANalyzer, CANape, Wireshark, etc.) + Working knowledge with software development tools such as git, debuggers, and compilers + Working knowledge with FMEA processes and a basic knowledge of electronic system failure modes + Working knowledge developing with embedded real-time software or systems for mobile, earthmoving, agricultural, industrial, or off-highway applications + Proven ability to work on production products through design, implementation, customer rollout, and support. + Ability to decompose complex customer requirements into achievable technical requirements for the systems that make up the product. **Software Product Design/Architecture:** + Proven ability directing and contributing to efforts to develop, integrate, or test complex systems like remote control or autonomy systems that meet prioritized requirements and time frame constraints for remote control or autonomous machine programs focusing on machine safety and productivity. + Working knowledge in developing Linux based software + Working knowledge developing with embedded real-time software or systems for mobile, earthmoving, agricultural, industrial, or off-highway applications **Effective Communications:** + Ability to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams including, but not limited to, Software development teams, Product groups, Hardware, Validation and Cybersecurity + Demonstrated ability to direct and develop solutions for complex remote-control projects and define and enable consistent development and test processes that will be shared and used by the extended team. + Clearly communicate designs, project schedules and tradeoffs with stakeholders and internal and external suppliers at multiple levels. **Managing Multiple Priorities** + Ability to handle multiple programs at a time by managing priorities + Demonstrated ability to quickly adjusts to changing priorities, navigating unforeseen challenges with a proactive mindset **Additional Information:** The location for this position is Mossville, IL Domestic relocation assistance is NOT available for this position.
