Role Summary
The Reliability Engineer/Specialist is responsible for providing technical guidance on the electrical and mechanical systems on operating units and equipment within the mill. This role maintains and improves the safety, environmental standards, overall reliability, and operating cost of the electrical and mechanical systems of the mill equipment. The Reliability Engineer/Specialist develops strategies to manage mill assets at peak performance, optimize lifetime return on investment, mitigate reliability risk, and supports capital improvements in support of long-term sustainable performance.
Job Accountabilities
Analyzes maintenance and reliability work practices to identify performance drivers. Works collaboratively with maintenance leadership on design/reengineering of existing work processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness within established technical standards Develop, implement, and lead reliability principles, precision maintenance, and condition monitoring initiatives Establish critical equipment spare strategy for equipment Works with all relevant departments to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations adhering to the life cycle asset management process throughout the entire life cycle of new assets Researches materials and concepts to advise and support technical issues influencing instrument design concept development. Design improvements for equipment/systems to improve overall reliability, availability, and predictability of production, improve process safety and environmental performance including complex designs Identifies and recommends changes in existing instrumentation and controls and suggests changes in plans to meet operational or department requirements and regulations. Perform equipment reliability analysis and recommends improvements based on Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) findings Conduct RCFA on failed equipment / components and improves life expectancy using RCFA findings Recommend equipment reliability improvements by doing analysis of equipment trends, historical, and field data Develop, implement, and lead reliability principles, precision maintenance, and condition monitoring initiatives Study performance and reliability of existing equipment and establish programs and solutions for decreasing equipment downtime. Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, and controls system, determine root cause and take corrective action to resolve system failures Provide input into capital projects to ensure the scope meets the objectives of operational reliability Specify appropriate Preventive Maintenance (PM's) / Predictive Maintenance (PdM's) based on Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) Actively interfaces with engineers and field supervision on troubleshooting, root cause failure analysis and optimization of maintenance predictive and preventive programs Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Reliability EngineeringOR
Seven (7) years in reliability, electrical or mechanical maintenance in paper, chemical, or heavy manufacturing industry and five (5) years in maintenance planning or reliability leadership role(s)
Comprehensive knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices and methods of principles, practices and methods used in the operation, maintenance, and construction of instrumentation and controls systems. Working knowledge of industry safety, design, and inspection standards and procedures Demonstrated technical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills Working knowledge of reliability centered maintenance and reliability modeling concepts (Design Standards, RCFA, Maintenance Strategies) Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and electrical drawings, diagrams, and sketches Proficient with engineering software Solid verbal and written communication skills Strong interpersonal and organizational skills Ability to interact effectively and positively with all levels of employees, customers, vendors and visitors Ability to work as self-directed individual and in a team environment Strong attention to detail Ability to organize and direct the activities of the power distribution work activities and coordinate such activities with operations and maintenance departments Demonstrated organizational skills and an ability to manage multiple projects and tasks in an effective manner Demonstrated problem solving skills and sound engineering principles Knowledge of process design, instrumentation, process control and statistics Proficient computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Able to pass pre-employment background check and drug test Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Desired Characteristics
Knowledgeable in process safety programs including incident investigations, process hazard analysis, management of change, and mechanical integrity. Familiarity with industry standards such as American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) applicable to maintenance and electrical engineering in paper, refining, petro-chemical, or manufacturing industry Proven working knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC), IEC, and NFPA. Understanding of risk-ranking methodologies and application Considerable knowledge of safe work practices, OSHA and environmental rules and regulations Knowledge/experience with 5-S, Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing principles
Pay Range: $101,840.00 - $135,755.00
