Overview We are seeking a full-time Reliability Engineer 2 in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, developing, performing, and coordinating complex reliability analysis, test plans and procedures to improve quality and reliability of Garmin products, processes, and systems in a team orientated environment under supervision of management or a mentor. Essential Functions May perform as a leader for small reliability projects or sub projects as part of a greater project following established procedures Develop more complex process instructions for reliability analysis Perform more complex activities to maximize reliability of new/existing products which may include: Designing/conducting experiments to measure product life/reliability, partnering with Design/Process Engineering to implement strategies aimed at improving detection of product failures and determining root cause, assisting in development/application of reliability testing strategies including accelerated life testing such as HALT and HASS, recommending design/process improvements to enhance reliability, and measuring/maintaining field reliability data and communicating results Able to elicit, formulate and identify reliability test requirements using techniques such as interviewing and use case development and develops test plans/procedures Participate in investigation/documentation of root cause analysis related to quality/reliability issues Perform analysis of reliability data to identify adverse performance trends/improvement opportunities which may include external/internal measurements, technical analysis of product applications, corrective actions, and implementation of improvement processes and design improvements Contribute to cross-functional teams focusing on improving reliability of products and processes and reliability improvement initiatives may include: Design for Manufacturability, Design for Serviceability, FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and Design of Experiments Perform statistical analysis of test/field data with regard to durability/reliability which includes Weibull analysis, regression analysis, Reliability Growth Testing models, ANOVA and related techniques Provide support to suppliers in evaluating the reliability of their components and providing support to suppliers in addressing reliability related problems associated with their product Work with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Repair, and Process Engineering to identify/implement process/design improvements in order to continuously improve product and process reliability Estimate level of effort for a task including calculating reliability testing times Collaborate/add value through participation while partnering with Engineering, apply reliability guidelines to design reviews, focus on continuous improvement, and provides alternative quality solutions as appropriate Develop designed experiments for process/quality improvements, analyze processes for quality improvements, and provide justification for purchases as needed Provide reliable analytic solutions to a variety of quality problems using sound problem solving techniques and apply a sense of urgency, commitment and focus on the right priorities in developing solutions in a timely fashion Serve as a mentor to less experienced reliability engineers (Reliability Engineer 1) Follow appropriate safety guidelines and material procedures Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Demonstrates full use of industry standards and procedures, proficiency and knowledge in use of engineering tools, and use of Lean techniques in process development Demonstrates strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Demonstrates proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Demonstrates the capability to perform complex analysis, test plans and procedures Superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality Desired Qualifications Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5) Experience in reliability and testing within the aircraft avionics industry Experience in an FAA approved quality system Proven knowledge of Design of Experiments, FMEA, Weibull analysis, regression analysis, and Reliability Growth Testing Experience with qualification and certification of products to National and International Standards Experience with database management systems such as Microsoft Access and SQL Experience with statistics packages such as Minitab Experience programming with languages such as Visual Basic Experience using computer aided design software to generate part models and assembly drawings Experience using National Instruments products and LabVIEW to automate tests Experience utilizing and programming microcontrollers (ex.
