Relationship Director MTL

Join us at Barclays Corporate Banking as a Relationship Director working within the Large Corporate team based in our Newcastle office. 

As a Relationship Director in the Large Corporate Manufacturing, Transport and Logistics (MTL) team, you will have lead responsibility for managing a specific portfolio of clients and targets classified as large corporate. You will be developing income and ensuring high levels of client satisfaction from this portfolio through creating deep, multi-stakeholder relationships with both existing and new contacts whilst ensuring effective risk management. As an MTL industry specialist you will be expected to understand and be up to date with industry news, corporate transactions, relevant advisors, thought leadership and attendance at relevant events.

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

The candidate should already have some experience in being part of or had led deal teams to deliver client transactions, products or services.Confident and professional personal and written skills and client presence with the ability to call, meet and negotiate with clients as the lead point of contact.Requires a good working knowledge of corporate banking products and services including those linked to debt, cash management, card payments, trade & working capital and FX solutions being particularly relevant to the role.Credit skills and debt finance – has risk accreditation L1 or 2 or at a minimum a demonstrable financial understanding of business with the ability to undertake L2 within 6 months.

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

Established or existing account management and business development skills and achievements.Debt finance appraisal skills directly relevant to Corporate Banking.Familiarity with running events and/or client entertainment with senior guests.An energetic self-developer.  Eager to learn & take personal responsibility for own development.Customer driven & focused with a deep understanding of internal & external markets, able to present customer propositions that match market demands and expectations.Excellent prioritisation & planning skills. Forward planner applying initiative & pace to every task ensuring delivery before deadlines set.

Purpose of the role

To establish and nurture profitable partnerships with corporate clients. It's the bridge between the bank's offerings and clients' needs, ensuring mutual benefit and long-term success. 

Accountabilities

Management of client relationships to identify the clients financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance to support the analysis of data obtained from various sources, including the investment portfolio and cash flow, to identify trends, insights, areas for improvement and additional services to support client needs.Research and understanding of the client's industry trends, regulatory landscape, and competitive environment to inform strategic recommendations.Design of customised solutions that address the client's specific needs and objectives, incorporating a range of products and services from the bank's portfolio.Communication of the value proposition of proposed solutions, justification of recommendations, and negotiation of terms that are beneficial for both the client and the bank.Provision of guidance to clients to support their financial decisions, risk management and wealth management strategies and updates on market trends to ensure a positive and continuous relationship.Assessment of financial, legal, and operational risks associated with client relationships, and implementation of measures to minimise potential losses.Documentation of all client interactions, transactions, and agreements to ensure transparency and auditability, and communicate findings effectively to support product development, service offerings, and the overall bank strategy.Monitoring of client satisfaction, revenue generated, and other relevant metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of relationship management efforts.Execution of market research and analysis to support the identification of potential new opportunities, market trends, and customer needs, to develop strategies for business growth.
