JOB SUMMARY
Establishes and maintains the efficient operation of a cancer registry, accurately collects diagnostic and treatment data on cancer patients of St. Francis Hospital. Retrieves and analyzes data and monitors survival by maintaining at least a 90% follow up rate.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Analyzes the assembled record for chart completion deficiencies, in accordance with regulatory requirements and medical staff rules and regulations.
Ensures any deficiencies are assigned to the appropriate medical staff member and data is entered for tracking and monitoring purposes.
Reviews documentation and updates or clears the deficiencies as appropriate.
Responsible for answering telephone calls and assisting visitors (including but not limited to physicians, patients, and their family members), while maintaining confidentiality.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

CTR licensure is preferred or eligible within two years of accepting the position Familiarity with JCAHO standards
Minimum Work Experience
2 years knowledge and proficient in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, and database applications.
