Job Overview:

A hospital patient registrar collects patient information and performs several functions, from verifying insurance to executing admissions, transfer, and discharge procedures. This professional must remain calm and efficient since work is often performed in a fast-paced environment where time is of the essence.

Qualifications:

Required:

Knowledge of medical technology helpfulGood typing and computer skills a must

Preferred:

Fluent in Spanish strongly preferredHigh School Diploma preferredAt least 1 year experience preferred

Scheduling Requirements:

Shift- 3:00pm-11:00pm Every other weekends/holidaysPart Time

Essential Functions:

Experience in a hospital patient registration setting, doctors office, handling patients scheduling, obtaining pre-certifications, authorizations and referrals or patient services environment strongly preferredPrevious experience in a census management, assigning beds, positionPrevious experience in a patient services environment billing/collections-must have a working knowledge of more than one provider such as Medicare, Medicaid, HMOs and othersExperience in completing medical assistance application, family care, PEs, PAICs or charity care, helpfulExperience in a customer service related environment preferredWell developed interpersonal skills with the ability to understand and communicate with persons of varying acuitiesMust be able to work with the public and maintain poise under difficult situations at all times
