Make pet care your purpose The Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) is responsible for maintaining excellent patient care and operational productivity by helping the Veterinarian leverage their time and efforts to meet the needs of their clients and patients. The Veterinary Technician works to relieve the Veterinarian from technical work and administrative detail to achieve greater levels of efficiency in daily practice. Veterinary Technicians help facilitate and streamline communication from the operating room to the front office staff and most importantly, the client. Essential qualifications: At least 18 years of age at the time of hire Must hold valid RVT license and/or hold a provisional license with DORA to be considered. At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience Understanding and ability to properly, and safely, restrain animals Knowledgeable on veterinary medical terminology and medication A day in the life: Assists the Veterinarian in medical, surgical, and dental surgeries, including preparing clients for surgery by assisting in the administering of anesthesia and properly restraining the animals as needed for examination and treatment. Supervise unlicensed team members completing the following tasks: suture to close existing skin incisions and skin lacerations, induce anesthesia, draw blood, and take samples for lab testing purposes. Under direct supervision of a Veterinarian, the Registered Veterinary Technician may: suture to close existing surgical skin incisions and skin lacerations, induce anesthesia, administer rabies vaccine, extract loose teeth or dental fragments in dogs and cats only and euthanasia.
