NaphCare is hiring a strong Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team of medical professionals in Cincinnati, OH, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for the individuals who are currently incarcerated in the Hamilton County Justice Center.

 

As a Corrections Nurse (RN), you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will have various duties to keep you engaged including performing physical assessments, administering medications, managing chronic illnesses, and responding to emergencies. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical needs.

Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse RN you will play a critical role in our continued mission to provide quality care that protects the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Duties and responsibilities may include and are not limited to:

Performing initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals.Monitoring and documenting patient health including vital signs, medical histories.Providing direct patient care, triaging, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and coordinating services.Managing acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.Responding to medical emergencies, providing first aid, and ensuring timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities.Educating patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.Understanding and adhering to correctional facility security protocols, while working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals, to ensure the safety and well-being of patients.Maintaining accurate medical records, documenting treatment plans, and reporting any relevant information. Education / Licenses / Certifications / Requirements

Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within OhioPossess an active CPR certificationMust pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

 

Experience / Skills

Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services.Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential informationExcellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skillsAble to work independently and in a teamFlexible schedule and availability to work overtime when neededIntegrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements

 

Physical Capabilities:

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
