We have a new full time 40 hours per week opening for a RN Oncology Navigator for our Lung Cancer service line. Once a full orientation and training has been completed, this position offers the ability to work up to one day per week remote.  This job is responsible for coordinating individualized care for patients along the cancer spectrum, from screening through survivorship. The role serves as an advocate, educator, consultant, leader, and community ambassador for the specific patient population served. An incumbent in this role is a consistent care coordinator throughout the continuum of care and can assess the physical, psychological and social needs of the patient.

Work is strongly focused on :

1) guiding the patient/family through the complex healthcare system, working to eliminate barriers that might otherwise adversely impact patient care/outcomes;

2) helping to coordinate the efforts of the medical team to facilitate continuity of care and enhance patient satisfaction.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES The following duties are intended to be representative of the work performed by incumbents in this position and is not all-inclusive. Coordinates care for all assigned patients throughout the continuum of care from screening to survivorship.Develops and shares assessments, goals, nursing interventions and patient response; remains a support system throughout the patients care progression.Provides education to meet the needs of patients, families, healthcare providers and the community. Consults and collaborates with other providers to meet the medical, social, and financial needs of patients; formulates an individualized, holistic care plan for patients and evaluates general management of patients and the patients response to nursing interventions and multi-disciplinary treatment plans. Provides accurate and timely data tracking, management, evaluation and reporting of clinical/treatment protocols/practices through ongoing observation and analysis of current activities. Provides operational support and contributes to clinical research activities conducted by department. Demonstrates proper use of communication tools/materials for effective communication and understands how the culture(s) of patient populations can affect communication, collaboration and the provision of care, treatment, and services. Demonstrates knowledge and proper skills associated with the departments defined specific populations served.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor's degree in NursingTwo years of professional nursing experience in Oncology Preferred Current licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by the Washington State Board of Nursing Current Healthcare Provider BLS CertificationCertification by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) as one of the following, within one year of hire, depending on the disease site(s) supported by the incumbent: Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN); Certified Breast Care Nurse (CBCN); Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP); Advanced Oncology Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist (AOCNS); Blood & Marrow Transplant Certified Nurse (BMTCN); Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON); or Certified Pediatric Oncology Nurse (CPON)Strong problem-solving skills, particularly with respect to addressing barriers to care and navigating patients through their care progression. Exceptional interpersonal skills

Preferred: Master's degree in Nursing or relatedfield Previous Oncology RN Navigator experience
