5 South Irving is a 40 bed General Surgery medical/surgical unit treating patients post surgical procedures such as appendicitis/appendectomy, gallbladder disease/Lap, cholecystectomy, small/large bowel obstruction/colon resections, diverticulitis, GERD/Lap, Peripheral Vascular Disease/Bypass surgeries, kidney stones, prostate cancer/prostate surgery, lung cancer/lobectomies, plastic surgery. This unit also treats medical patients such as pneumonia, bowel obstructions, COPD, cellulitis, etc.
A Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for the planning, implementing and evaluation of care for a given patient population with the established standards and practices of Crouse Hospital. This process is enacted through direct clinical practice, management of patient care and general professional duties.
Education/Experience Requirements
Required:
Graduate of an accredited associate degree*A Graduate Nurse (GN) must complete NCLEX within 120 days of employment.
Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing from accredited nursing program or higher degree*Bachelor’s degree required within 8 years of being hired or those licensed after 2017.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
Required:
Current New York State licensure as a Registered Nurse Basic Life Support (BLS)Preferred:
Certification in a specialty area.
