Registered Nurse Coordinator-Child Birth

Job Summary

Management of the Childbirth Education Program and assistance with intakes and triage nurse coverage on an as needed basis.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and review all needed medical records for new referrals. Assess specific patient needs and problems including urgency of visit.

• Triage all phone calls in coordination with Medical Assistant and Physician. Assess the nature of the problem and the intervention required. Maintain a close link with terminal patients and families. Maintain awareness of at risk patients so their calls receive foremost attention.

• Maintain all appropriate documentation on patient records, assuring
physician has needed information in office as well as in hospital or clinic.

• Perform all duties in a cost-effective, as well as a time-effective manner for both physician and patient.

• Serve as a liaison with referring physicians.

• Maintain good communications with referral sources. Share information with team members.

• Maintain equipment and order supplies as needed.

• Monitor and review the quality of care, which is being provided in the Practice in collaboration with physicians and staff.

• Assist in the preparation of Quality Improvement reports.

• Verify the competency of specific clinical skills within the practice.

• Assist the Manager with personnel management and orientation of childbirth educators.

• Identify educational needs of the office staff and provide continuing education, such as in-service education on new policies, clinical skill procedures, and equipment.

• Assume authority and responsibility for decision making and problem solving for the Practice in the absence of the Practice Manager.

• Prepare various reports as required/requested. Maintain in-service/ education records.

• Maintain ongoing communication with the staff and physicians in assuring
quality patient care and customer satisfaction. Monitor office "flow" on daily basis.

• Communicate with other managers as necessary to coordinate educational opportunities and to facilitate problem solving.

• Maintain Certified Childbirth Educator( i.e. CAPPA, Lamaze International)

• Ability to teach any class on the roster with appropriate certifications. i.e. certified technician for child passenger safety, BLS instructor, etc.

• Coordination of classes

• Coordination of educators

• Monthly reports and annual evaluations of educators and the program

• Marketing the program in a variety of ways.

• Continuous update and evaluation of current curriculum

• Curriculum development for new classes

• Multidisciplinary collaboration with other departments and community agencies.

• Maintain requirements for Medicaid Right from the Start Program

• Assist the manager in fiscal resource management for the program. Provide input on budget needs.

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

Education 

• Associate's Degree (Required) Experience: 3 YEARS Nursing experience

 

Credentials 

• Registered Nurse (Required)
• Basic Life Support (Required) Within 30 days of hireWithin 30 days of hire
