Title:    Registered Nurse (Multiple Specialties)

Location: George E. Whalen Veterans Affairs Medical Center, 500 Foothill Dr, Salt Lake City, UT 84148

Position Description:  Vighter is recruiting multiple Registered Nurses (RN) to provide patient care support at the George E. Whalen Veterans Affairs Medical Center, located in Salt Lake City, Utah at 500 Foothill Dr, Salt Lake City, UT 84148.  The Salt Lake City VA is rated as a complex medical facility, therefore  provides care to Veterans locally and from surrounding states. The staff provides care for a variety of specialties including, but not limited to, primary care, ENT, cardiology, plastics, neurology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, ortho-spine, pain management, podiatry, urology, vascular, dental, emergency, ICU, Psychiatric, Substance Abuse, acute care, long term care, gynecology, and hybrid cath lab cases. RNs are responsible to ensure the safety and well-being of all care provided to patients in the facility including proper time out, consent, credentialed staff available, body positioning, documentation of implants, medication  administration, maintaining sterile environments, ensuring necessary supply /equipment  availability, etc. In addition to regularly scheduled cases, staff may provide on-call services for  urgent and emergent cases after hours, weekends, and holidays. The team strives to provide advanced notice for all scheduling of RN coverage to provide predictability and ease of planning.

Job Summary:

    Vighter LLC is recruiting multiple Registered Nurses (RN) to perform patient-based nursing services and support at the George E. Whalen Veterans Affairs Medical Center, 500 Foothill Dr, Salt Lake City, UT 84148.

The RN provides the full range of nursing services within the scope of practice for a variety of patient-centered specialties, and ensures that all JHACO standards for care are met during performance of patient care. RNs provide complex and comprehensive professional nursing services within the professional  scope of practice for a variety of diagnoses for patients of all ages.

RNs operate and monitor specialized equipment including, but not limited to portable dialysis  machines, CRRT machines, oxygen, hypothermia units, various types of suction apparatus,  infusion equipment, PCA, epidural pumps, sequential compression devices, cardio-respiratory  monitors, vital sign monitors, and assist with patients in the both Routine and Intensive Care settings who have invasive hemodynamic catheters, monitors, and ventilators.

RNs prepare patients for diagnostic procedures and assist with procedures as  necessary. Provide post-procedure and post-operative recovery care and verifies the content and correctness of all recorded entries in the patient record. All  documentation, records and reports must meet or exceed established VA standards to include, but  not limited to: timeliness, legibility, accuracy, content, and signature. The outpatient record shall  be completed the same day the patient is seen.

Complete and appropriate medical record forms in compliance with VA guidelines and policies on each patient.

Reports to: Project Manager

Principle Accountabilities:

Has been practicing actively as an RN in an acute or long-term setting for at least the last two  years.  Is capable of providing complex and comprehensive nursing care for adult medical patients.  Has and maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)  Certifications. Has no health or physical disability restrictions that interfere with performance of assigned  duties.  Registered Nurse: Includes Primary care, ENT, cardiology, plastics, neurology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, ortho-spine, pain management, podiatry, urology, vascular, dental, emergency, ICU, Psychiatric, Substance Abuse, acute care, long term care, gynecology, and hybrid cath lab. Has all credentials and certifications as required for the Registered Nurse position. Assists other staff in discharging patients as needed. Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

 

Qualifications:

Holds a diploma, Associate of Science degree from an NLN accredited college, or university and holds a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in any State. A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited university is preferred. 

 

Other Qualifications:

Shall be a United States Citizen. Shall not have been convicted of a felony. Shall be able to read, write, and speak English. Shall be able to operate a personal computer utilizing Microsoft applications, such as Explorer, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc. so as to efficiently create and/or utilize an Electronic Medical Record.

 

Experience:

Has been actively practicing as a registered nurse in a primary or specialty setting such as Intensive Care Unit,  Emergency Room, or Psychiatric setting for two years; or has been actively practicing in an  acute and long-term setting for one year. 

 

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand or sit for more than 8 hours per day. Must be willing to work overtime if necessary. Must be able to use an elevator or walk up and down stairs. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and carry up to 10 feet. Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders. Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print. Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear. Must be able to perform duties in an indoor or outdoor environment. Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation. Must undergo urine drug testing.
