This position will function as an independent nurse primarily in the Urogynecology division, providing evaluation and treatment of pelvic floor disorders. The Registered Nurse will also provide care to and in support of patients to include coordinating resources, scheduling appointments, coordinating referrals, follow up care, patient education, and other resources as identified for patients. This integral position is a part of the Urogynecology Division designed to decrease fragmentation of care and coordinate services. In addition to supporting the clinical and educational needs of the patient, the position will enhance patient access and ease of clinical evaluation for referring physicians and services.
This position requires travel to multiple office locations.
Responsibilities Perform urodynamic testing to assess bladder function in conjunction with a NP/PA/MD.Obtain a complete health, psychosocial, obstetric, and gynecologic history and record findings in a systematic, accurate, and succinct form. Provide assessment and education, for female pelvic floor disorders.Provide education and counseling related to pelvic health. Act as a liaison between patients, referring practices, and specialty providers regarding patient care as needed. Assist physician in addressing patient questions and concerns.Improve patient knowledge and understanding of treatment options and plans.Promote informed patient decision making.Ensure timeliness in scheduling patient appointments.Facilitate referrals to consultants in collaborative care as directed by the physician.Manage patients through the electronic health record ensuring that patients are monitored through their active treatment plan.Assist with tracking metrics and statistics as requested.Document all patient encounters within the electronic health record.Triage patients to include obtaining vitals and escort to treatment room.Assist with office surgical and diagnostic procedures.Coordinate additional care for patients to include follow-up testing or procedures, scheduling, physician’s orders, and hospital admissions.Maintain an inventory of supplies and ensure that they are adequately stocked for daily clinic activities. Provide education and act as a resource to other staff members regarding the care of patients.Record all pertinent patient information in EHR as well as completing workflows for meaningful use objectives. Completes workflows in the EHR to meet advancing care information objectives.Facilitate patient care flow in the clinic while providing direct patient care for an assigned provider/s.Orient new clinical staff to include signing off on clinical competencies.Promote the philosophy, goals and objectives of EVMS, EVMS Medical Group and the Department by becoming familiar with and complying with policies and procedures.Perform triage and monitor task queues. Attendance, as assigned, is essential to meeting required performance duties.Complete other duties as assigned. QualificationsEDUCATION:
Graduation from NLN Accredited School of Nursing with RN diploma required, BSN preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum one-year experience with urology, gynecology, labor and delivery, or medical-surgical clinical experience preferred. Must have a valid Virginia license as a Professional Registered Nurse.
