People seek guidance from a Registered Dietitian (RD) for many reasons. Some individuals want to maximize wellness and learn to eat healthier to decrease the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, or cancer. Others would like to learn more about sports nutrition, maintaining a healthy weight or aging healthfully. No matter what the reason is, Registered Dietitians help develop personal diet plans to help every patient achieve their goals. This role will be a float between the ICU and Nutrition Therapy teams
A caregiver in this position works 8:00am – 4:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide individualized medical nutrition therapy, education and counseling to patients.
Implement nutritional care plans, communicate plans, establish a follow-up system and maintain documentation.
Write changes for diet orders, initiate nutrient intake assessments, assess patients for nutritional deficiencies, evaluate fluids and electrolytes, review laboratory and clinical progress notes and inform physicians of their patients’ nutritional status and need for diet changes.
Create and revise education materials, participate in program development, and develop, implement and market services.
Support the dietetic internship program as a supervised practice rotation preceptor and class instructor.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics or a related field. Completion of a Dietetic Internship or Credentialed Program.
Current licensure to practice dietetics in the current state (LD).
Board Certification as a certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC), for adult services, or Certified Specialist in Pediatrics (CSP), for pediatric services, within two year of hire/assignment.
Two years of related experience, OR One year experience as a Registered Dietitian in clinical nutrition. OR Successful completion of the Cleveland Clinic Dietetic Internship Program or equivalent may substitute for experience requirement.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to navigate extensively to provide services to a large number of patients throughout the hospital and clinic sites. Must have manual dexterity to sufficiently perform computer entry and nutrition-focused physical examinations.
Must have physical ability to measure and weigh ambulating patients.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
