Regional Financial Controller & Dalian Site Lead

The Dyson Business Services (DBS) organization has been setup to provide process and service excellence to support Dyson’s growth ambitions with a goal of innovating and enhancing services over time to meet the changing needs of the business. 

The Regional Financial Controller GC will report to the Global Head of Financial Controlling, lead a team of finance professionals based in Dalian, China and Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

The incumbent will work closely with the Finance Directors (FDs) and act as a sounding board for any new ideas for both the manufacturing and sales entities in Dyson.

You will work closely with the Record-To-Report (RTR) Global Process Owner (GPO) and RTR Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to drive global process standardization leveraging technology and also serve as the key connector between the Region and other finance functions (Group Finance/Tax/Treasury) to ensure alignment of financial strategies and practices.

We expect the role to be also responsible for the SSC Dalian Site management and representation, being the most Senior Leader on site.

In addition, you will be part of a global DBS team and play a key role to contribute to the realization of the DBS vision.

About The Role

The Regional Financial Controller GC will be responsible for:

Financial reporting and compliance:

Oversee the accounting closing process, assure all required financial reporting as performed accurately and timely.Maintain accounting, financial reporting, financial control, and information systems to ensure adequate records, appropriate authorization of transactions, and asset safeguardingSupport monthly financial reporting, ensuring timeliness and accuracy in the process and preparation of consolidated financial resultsPrepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

Financial guidance and analysis

Provide guidance on accounting practices and other relevant policies and procedures.Review and enforce adherence to internal policies and finance standards,Advise on complex financial accounting and reporting issues Develop and implement robust financial controls and procedures to mitigate risks and enhance the efficiency of financial operationsServe as a key financial advisor to the regional management team, providing analysis and guidance on all financial mattersProvide status of financial condition and compliance by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data

Stakeholder Management and Business Partnering

Liaise with the Regional and Market Financial Directors (FDs) to understand their challenges, give guidance on finance related matters and financial processesAct as a connector between the Region and other finance functions (Group Finance/Tax/Treasury) to ensure alignment of financial strategies and practicesProactively work with the Regional and Market Financial Directors (FDs) to review all DBS related issues, assure prompt follow-up and follow through.Act as a Single Point of Contact for a Region with regard to all DBS related matters,Conduct regular meetings with Market FDs to review financial performance and discuss operational issues. Present financial reports and insights to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner, ensuring they understand the financial dynamics

Audits

Coordinate the provision of information to external auditorsOversee the annual audit process, work closely with external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit

Process/Systems/Controls

Ensure global process are implemented as designed and adequate internal controls are in place and monitored.Coordinate with the RTR (Record-to-Report) Team and the Group Finance function to ensure consistency in financial processes and controls across the companyWork proactively with RTR (Record-to-Report) GPO and RTR SMEs on various projects and initiatives related to processes, systems and roles & responsibilitiesCollaborate closely with Group Finance, contribute to the design of the internal policies and make sure regional challenges are represented and addressedEmbrace and lead process/system/mindset change.Initiate and drive process improvements for the Greater China Region

Team Management

Lead, manage and develop the finance controlling team working in different locations/countriesPromote culture of high performance and continuous improvementFacilitate training and professional development opportunities to enhance team skills and capabilities.Provide guidance to team members, encourage accountability and ownership of tasks.Act as the back-up for the Financial Controllers

The role, being the most senior role in the SSC Dalian, is also expected to take the local site oversight, representation of DBS on the ground and serve as a binding role for the whole SSC Team. Additionally, we also expect the role to assure compliance of the Dalian branch with local laws and regulations and to maintain close collaboration and regular exchange with the Regional (Greater China) Management of Dyson.

Experience/Qualifications

Over 15 years of experience as a Controller in MNCs with people management responsibilities and thrives in a multi-national environment.University degree (Business / Finance / Economy / Management)MBA/ACCA/CPA qualifications, a plus.Strong leaderships skills, able to work with teams without direct reporting lines.Sound understanding of local legal requirements and previous experience with site lead responsibilities welcomed.Clear and concise communication style.Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.Comfortable to work with senior management and is experienced in building relationships and managing stakeholders across countries.Exhibit customer centric mindset and the ability to manage tasks with competing priorities to meet the demands.Highly motivated, deadline driven and result focused.Hands-on and detail oriented; comfortable working at process level.Have high level understandings of SAP/Blacklines.C1 English is a mustAbility to speak and read Mandarin, a plus.Six sigma certifications or Kanban experience, a plus.
