Your Role
We are looking for a Regional Design Technology Lead – Computational Platforms to join our SW Design Technology Team. This is a great opportunity to join a team of innovators at an organization with a global impact and contribute to generating world class design for the built environment.
Reporting to the SW Region Design Technology Director, you will be leading and implementing initiatives focused on computational thinking to make data driven design decisions. In addition, you will be creating and implementing computational design solutions to support our BIM deliverables specifically in the areas of constructability, direct to manufacturing, cost estimation and more. Lastly you will be working with design leaders to empower designers to leverage computational workflows and thinking to supercharge their design process, produce innovative outcomes and tell computationally driven stories.
In this role, you will be expected to demonstrate extensive expertise implementing computational and generative design platforms to achieve impactful results on projects. Successful candidates should also have experience using and implementing programming languages and scripting techniques common to design authoring platforms to deliver and drive innovation in their work.
Through the focus of your work, you will lead design teams to bring data-driven insights and computational design intelligence to every designer, every place, and every project at Gensler and become an integral part of the design journey. To do so, you will create proof of concepts and provide leadership on technical direction with respect to innovative and scalable computational design solutions. The long-lasting positive effects of the practice-based solutions that you help create and introduce to the firm, will be reflected by user engagement metrics and project stories.

What You Will Do
Foster and grow the Computational Design community across the firm with focus on connectivity and excellence.
Collaborate with project teams to deploy best-in-class project-specific technology solutions to provide unparalleled design excellence to our clients.
Create and apply computational algorithms for a variety of design problems including integration with our BIM platforms.
Support, grow, and evangelize adoption of Gensler’s proprietary computational platforms within design teams.
Assist teams in creating and maintaining computational project documentation pipelines.
Identify, research, recommend and implement intelligent automation practices.
Research and develop thoughtful responsible ways to integrate Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning into computational design processes.
Present sophisticated concepts and solutions to non-technical audiences through storytelling, visual communication, and data-driven insights.
Adapt skills and knowledge to various projects and platforms.
Lead formal and informal training for team members.
Your Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Design Technology, or other relevant academic or work experience.
15+ years of experience with whole-project solutions that combine computational design and BIM deliverables.
Expert Rhino-Grasshopper user including Rhino.Inside.Revit.
Detailed knowledge and experience with Autodesk Revit and Dynamo.
Understanding of, and ability to use programming languages and scripting techniques in your daily work.
Proven experience deploying computational design on large & complex projects.
Familiarity with prefabricated building systems and Direct to Manufacture techniques.
Exceptional critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
Must provide a portfolio in either PDF form or a link to a website portfolio. If Artificial Intelligence is utilized in creation of any significant portion of the portfolio candidate must disclose its scope of use.
*This is not a remote position. The successful candidate is expected to be in the office.*
**The base salary range will be estimated between $130,000 - $150,000 plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
