Regional Category Manager Raw Materials EU

The role of Regional Category Manager for Raw Materials will be responsible for Chemicals, Filtration, Single Use Technology, Labs & Manufacturing Supplies in Europe/US region, supporting across the CSL enterprise.  This position is one of high visibility and influence across the CSL global organization. 

As a member of the Global Directs Materials & External Supply Strategic Sourcing team you will lead the Regional Raw Materials team, in developing and implementing sourcing strategies that underpin our global approach to deliver value and protect final product availability for our Patients. You will ensure continuous and responsible supply to our production sites in Germany, Switzerland and UK, as well as supporting lab and R&D facilities in region.

Reporting directly into an Associate Director; Global Category Lead and leading a team of four Sourcing Specialists based in Liverpool, Bern, Marburg & St Gallen. Additionally, the RCM will support across a Global category matrix organisation.

Responsibilities include: -

Develop Plans aligned to CSL Global and Procurement Strategy 

The RCM will contribute strongly to the development & implementation of annual action plans for regional vendors based on the Global Category Strategy and regional business needs. Ensuring clear objectives and sourcing strategies in the reduction of the total cost of ownership and risk, while increasing innovation, sustainability, customer service, compliance and quality. Establish and Maintain Effective Category Management and Bid Management Drive value from the regional category(s) by defining and implementing effective category management strategies; establishing and managing Councils for business-critical raw materials aligned with the evolving business requirements and are effectively leading key sourcing activities, including negotiations, that to deliver lower cost of ownership, lower risk, higher quality and better supply performance.  Conduct opportunity analysis for current procurement practices from one region to another and identify synergies on cross-regional or global basis


Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) 

Responsible for monitoring and managing Supply Performance KPIs and conducting regular Operational Reviews as per Procurement’s Governance processes with supporting analysis and reporting from the Centre of Excellence. Ensuring any Category Management roles are allocated within the team, and also review and manage Supplier performance to meet agreed standards.  Shape and develop supplier relationships to create value beyond the contract ensure alignment of the capabilities and responsiveness of suppliers with business objectives.  Assess and determine the adequacy of supplier’s Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) to appropriately support CSL endeavours. Evaluate market and supplier-driven innovations to determine value and fit, to ensure maximum value through cutting-edge technologies and novel ideas, maintaining CSL as an industry leader and reducing Total Cost of Ownership.  

Develop Talent 

Lead, motivate and develop employees within the Procurement organisation including effective long-term talent development, succession planning and performance managing with a focus on supporting employees to meet or exceed performance expectations while demonstrating CSL Values.Manage Key Internal and External Stakeholders and Partners Relationships Build and maintain effective professional relationships with senior, internal stakeholders and senior external executives within large vendor organizations to deliver upon Procurement’s objectives by ongoing discussions and participation in formal teams and groups with senior leaders in CSL and external vendors to manage supplier performance, issues, procurement improvement initiatives and other broader business issues. 

Drive Innovation 

Lead and participate in global transformation projects and continuous improvement initiatives as required to ensure the delivery of targeted benefits.  Lead annual opportunity analysis forums with cross functional stakeholders and key supplier partners to replenish idea and initiative pipeline to continually generate value to the business and reduction of Cost of Goods Sold.

Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:

At least 5 Years strategic sourcing experience, understanding of the pharmaceutical industry or related regulated industry preferred but not essentialSolid Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, and Supplier Relationship Management knowledge. The position requires the ability to build and maintain strong relationships and collaborate effectively with all levels and cross functionally within the organization.Including experience leading a major tender process for good / service and effective negotiations. Basic strategic orientation, inquisitive, comfortable with ambiguity, and self-motivated to identify trends and improvement opportunities aligned with business objectives and strategic plans.Strong communication demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills with ability to build effective relationships and influence peers and key stakeholders.Demonstrated strength and ability to organize and lead a global team. Working in complex internal organization setting; partnering and influencing across functions and markets and between supply and demand sides of the businessStrong project management skills with ability to plan tasks, assign resources, manage progress, remove barriers, manage change, resolve conflict, build consensus, and motivate team members across multiple projects concurrently.Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to the given audience, present information in a clear and concise manner, apply creative approaches to engage audiences, manage change, resolve conflict, and build consensus.Domestic travel as required (10-30%)International travel as required (20-30%)
