We are looking for a Regional Category Buyer to join our Procurement team in Freeport, TX.

We are seeking a professional like you to ensure competitive advantage for our business units as a member of our professional procurement team.  You will be responsible for supporting the regional category of Technical Services by sourcing services for all BASF business units associated with the Southwest Procurement Hub.  You will support all regional technical services including construction, specialty maintenance and facilities for the identified region and will be a backup for the Technical Services buyers in other regions.  You will support the Regional Category Managers in the development of category strategies and providing local market input related to supply and demand market dynamics. You will routinely engage with the associated business units and suppliers to align supplier capabilities with BASF strategic priorities and explore creative and strategic supply solutions for the assigned category.

As a Regional Category Buyer Technical Services, you create chemistry by...

 

Performing the Source-to-Contract activities for technical services in the North American region.Using your strong negotiation skills to steer negotiations with suppliers and be accountable for awarding and implementing contracts.Working closely with business unit technical teams and site project teams as you develop and implement sourcing strategies for these services.Leading and managing the sourcing process (RFI, RFQ, RFP, etc.) for key strategic contracts and complex negotiations to ensure a competitive advantage for BASF.Demonstrating your strong customer focus while providing relationship management for key suppliers, which will include monitoring performance metrics, resolving claims and/or disputes, market intelligence, and other contributing factors affecting supply availability and pricing of services procured.Conducting market intelligence research by interacting with key suppliers, industry associations, and internal stakeholders to collect industry relevant information and rationalizing to assess impact current and future to BASF. You will also evaluate incoming commercial offers and support the bonus/penalty evaluation process. Supporting purchase order creation and processing as appropriate.

 

If you...

 

Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, with background in Engineering, Chemistry, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Construction Management degree, Accounting, or a related discipline. Have 5+ years of experience in business; specifically in areas such as Manufacturing, Process Development, Product Management, or similar fields.  Possess excellent interpersonal skills; enabling effective engagement with individuals at various levels. Have exceptional communication, negotiation and influencing skills. Possess financial knowledge and business acumen.Create your own chemistry with you@BASF
