Regional Accounts Payable - Manager Europe

Role description:

The Regional Accounts Payable (AP) Manager Europe will be responsible for providing excellent, time-sensitive customer service to regional stakeholders. This position serves as the main point of escalation for AP issues across multiple countries in Europe, processing expedited requests, and addressing any AP matters that require local management. Given the diversity of the region, this role requires strong language skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders in various countries. 

This position reports to the Global Accounts Payable Manager (BPO) and will manage a small regional team of AP specialists within Europe. 

Role accountabilities:

Acts as the Accounts Payable Subject Matter Expert for all countries within the assigned regions. Leads the small regional Accounts Payable team; provides timely customer service in local time zones, handles issue escalations, and expedited requests. Works closely with regional finance and operations leaders to ensure appropriate responses to performance issues. Collaborates with local stakeholders to resolve complex AP issues efficiently. Supports global initiatives as defined by AP senior leadership.

Further Accountabilities:

Process Improvements:

Partners with AP leadership to develop standard and automated processes. Works closely with the GSSC team to identify and analyze manual, regional tasks, and find ways to standardize and automate. Collaborates with the Arcadis Way team to identify Oracle enhancements and perform testing. Applies Arcadis Global AP standard design principles across all countries in the region while considering specific regional requirements.

Subject Matter Expert:

Acts as the Regional Accounts Payable Subject Matter Expert, requiring extensive knowledge of AP processes and strong relationships with regional stakeholders. Aligns with global initiatives while ensuring regional compliance and process optimization.

Fraud Prevention:

Integrates fraud prevention into daily AP operations, conducting monthly fraud prevention stand-downs.

Motivational Leader:

Inspires and mentors the team to reach their full potential. Supports the career development of team members by identifying strengths, addressing weaknesses, and providing targeted training. Conducts regular performance evaluations and ensures alignment with organizational priorities. Promotes team engagement through active participation in surveys like Peakon, addressing feedback to improve retention. Ensures team members are trained on all country and regional processes, enabling cross-functionality and compliance with segregation of duties requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

A Bachelor’s Degree and CPA qualification (or significant relevant work experience) are preferred. Demonstrated experience in a similar industry is required. Strong communication skills, with proficiency in English and at least two additional European languages to effectively manage cross-country interactions. Comprehensive experience in the procure-to-pay process. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word). Extensive experience with large accounting systems, Oracle preferred. Expertise in regional AP technical requirements, including tax, general accounting practices, invoice intake, payment processing, and expense auditing. Up-to-date knowledge of fraud prevention methods with the ability to train and guide the team. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex challenges. Ability to collaborate with ERP teams, escalating issues and participating in testing when necessary.
