Position Summary

The Mandan Refinery located in Mandan, North Dakota is seeking a TAR Lead who will be accountable for the overall planning and execution of turnaround (TAR) and major maintenance (MM) events safely, on schedule, and on budget at the Mandan Refinery and Dickinson Renewable Diesel Facility.

The successful candidate will need strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, organizational, critical and strategic thinking skills. They also must have strong safety leadership experience and drive for safety focus while planning and executing work. This position is based out of Mandan, ND and directly reports to a Maintenance Supervisor in the Turnaround and Construction Group.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the overall scope development of TAR and MM events working with all departments to ensure scope is captured properly on the worklist and optimized to include only outage required work.Review work scope approvals (WSAs), requests for information (RFIs), iTAR worklist, and P6 primavera schedule on a consistent basis to verify alignment.Control and minimize scope growth.Develop and manage event budget performance.Manage iTAR to ensure accurate and consistent information.Allocate planning and scheduling tasks amongst planners and supervise to make sure all work is planned using safety best practices and following the TAR RSP to maximize quality and productivity.Support schedulers in development of manpower loading consistent with operations start up and shut down plans to maximize efficiencies.Develop overall manpower and equipment hiring plans with contractor.Develop overall site logistics plan including master plot plan of cranes, temporary housing assignments, parking, bus routes, etc.Work with engineering to review new projects and give suggestions for constructability improvements.Review bills of materials (BOM’s) for adherence with Marathon specifications.Establish contractor requirements and participate in pre-outage meetings to review scope and schedule with contractors.Establish and facilitate reoccurring planning meetings documenting action items and meeting minutes to ensure accountability amongst other departments.Coordinate, review, monitor all work during execution.  Adjust resources as necessary during the turnaround to complete scope safely, on schedule, and under budget.Review previous lessons learned to understand problematic and successful past work practices.Compile data for close out and performance summary reports                     Coordinate and monitor construction project scope deliverables that tie-in with TAR or MM events.Manage multiple TAR and/or MM events that are in varying stages of the planning life cycle.Assist with developing contracting strategies for turnaround and MM events.Work with multiple groups to coordinate final system turnover management where several different strategies and tools may be utilized.Onboard and manage direct leased and contract employees for assigned scope during all event phases.

Education, and Experience:

Must have a HS Diploma or GED.Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.Minimum 3 years maintenance experience required; Refining or Petrochemical industry preferred.Previous TAR experience preferred.A valid driver’s license is required. Some travel required.Must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical.Must be able to work additional hours to support maintenance events and TAR as needed.

Skills:

Strong initiative, leadership, collaboration, and strategic / critical thinking skills are essentialExperience with SAP, iTAR, P6 Primavera is preferredProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook requiredKnowledge of industry codes and standards applicable to major capital projects preferred.
