We’re hiring a Recreation Center Assistant Manager to Live. Work. Explore. at the south rim of the Grand Canyon! Job Summary: Assist the Recreation Center Manager in the day-to-day operation of the Recreation Center by providing leadership and direction to the staff in the areas of programming, facility maintenance, excellent guest service and recreational opportunities to the community. The Details: Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round Pay: $16.70 per hour Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays) Housing: Eligible for a studio apartment at $267 per month. Responsibilities Assume responsibility for Community Recreation Center in the absence of the Recreation Center Manager (CRCM). Assist CRCM to ensure that community programs and accessibility by constant interaction with community residents, groups, business and the Board of Directors to maximize the use of the Recreation Center for all members and of the great Grand Canyon Community. Assist CRCM with facility cleaning standards are maintained by reviewing cleaning checklists each shift, performing a daily walkthrough and assigning additional cleaning tasks or special projects to staff as needed. Participate in the development of existing and new trips, to include researching, planning, advertising and ensuring trip safety for all participants. Responsible for coordinating larger community events such as blood drives, the softball league, the health fair, and others as assigned. Assist the CRCM in hiring, training and performance management of Recreation Center staff. Assist the CRCM to maintain Community Recreation Center Policies and Procedures including safety, risk management and sustainability policies and procedures. Assist the CRCM to prepare bi-weekly deposit. Assist the CRCM to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and by-laws as they relate to the Recreation Center Van and drivers. Ensure Recreation Center employees are completing their required certifications and training. Manage the vendor relationships as approved by CRCM and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs). Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Hospitality Management or equivalent experience. Previous supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership qualities preferred. Must be able to obtain a DOT medical card within the first 2 weeks in the position. Knowledge of weight and fitness equipment use, and repair preferred. Ability to acquire CPR/First Aid certification within 6 months of hire. Ability to acquire Food handling certification within 30 days of hire. Experience with cash handling and the ability to acquire Cash Handling certification within 30 days of hire. Ability to obtain a valid Arizona Driver’s License within 30 days of hire and comply with the company Driver Safety Program. Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task. Strong computer skills in Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Excel, Word, as well as social media platforms. Excellent written, verbal and problem-solving skills as well as strong interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with a diverse community.
