Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Shaw Woodland Pool Shaw AFB. The position is open and continuous. Responsibilities Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area. Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance If and when needed. Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions and recommends dosing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail. When working at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards. Ensures rock wall and water slide are inspected frequently and that necessary repairs are made. May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to Include: cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbathing areas, conduct swim lessons, etc. Performs other related duties as assigned. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: For pool and aquatic center lifeguards: Have an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and waler rescue methods and skills, as well u basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training. Have experience which provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment Is desirable. Be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). Satisfactory completion of Installation records check, state and national criminal background checks may be required for positions that provide lifesaving duties for children. This Is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement..
