Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Bryant Fitness Center. Requires daily physical exertion and requires an above average physical dexterity in order to demonstrate and teach participants. Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds. Responsibilities Operating a front desk operation in greeting visitors; answerers incoming telephone calls; ensures only authorized patrons use the facility and equipment and adhere to rules, regulations, and policies; maintains reservations system for sports courts and fields; provides general information regarding scheduled events and classes; issues and receives equipment; maintains indoor facility to include annotating hourly head counts and reporting all safety infractions and potential mishaps; inspects check-out items to ensure items are clean and in good repair and reports to supervisor items returned which do not meet satisfactory conditions; inventories, restocks and displays check-out times; provides equipment manager with a list of re-order needs. Properly safeguards funds; ensures reserved areas are ready for use by customers; ensures lockers are clean and operable. Accounts for towels and uniforms received from the contractor. Cleans locker rooms and equipment as needed, returns weight equipment and accessories to proper racks and locations, and addresses policy violations when observed. Washes and dries towels and uniforms as needed. Assists in setting up facilities, grounds and equipment for programs and special functions and performs minor maintenance or repairs on equipment as needed. Performs opening and closing procedures of facilities IA W written guidelines. Provides assistance to facility users by explaining function and features available. Attempts to resolves customer complaints and elevates those unable to satisfactory respond to supervisor. Must have some customer service experience and be able to perform basic clerical or office work. Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
