Receiving Clerk

Position Summary The Shipping Receiving Clerk is responsible for receiving supplies and equipment delivered via motor freight, UPS, FedEx, U.S. Mail and delivered by local vendor delivery. Shipping/Receiving Clerk is also responsible for delivery to departments of those received items. Ships materials and equipment from the hospital via motor freight, UPS or FedEx, including appropriate packaging of items being shipped. Minimum Qualifications Education High school degree. College course work preferred. Credentials State Required: None.

GPH Required/Preferred: Certification for Hazardous Materials Training/Testing DOT required as soon as possible.

A current motor vehicle operator's license required.

Physical Demands Stand and/or walk up to five (5) hours per day. Sit up to three (3) hours per day. Push and/or pull carts weighing up to 500 pounds daily. Ability to see, speak and hear required. Ability to drive an automobile required. Carry 50 lbs 30 feet frequently. Reach floor to above shoulders frequently. Essential Functions Responsible for the resolution of receiving and invoice discrepancies, working closely with Material Management staff. Checks quantities received against packing slip for accuracy of product, quantity and unit of measure. Notifies the appropriate Buyer of any discrepancy. Determines proper destination for delivery of supplies and equipment ordered for the storeroom and other departments. Assures timely delivery to the appropriate department. Assists with placing stock items in their assigned locations. Ships materials and equipment from the hospital via motor freight, UPS or FedEx, including packaging of items being shipped. Verifies and enters all incoming freight into the materials system. When applicable, issues items from the storeroom while keeping the purchasing agent informed of potential storeroom stock out situations. Responsible for maintaining the storeroom and receiving area clean and organized. Responsible for assisting in the Maintains off-site warehouse(s) and disposes of unnecessary equipment at the direction of the Director of Support Services. Responsible for the documentation, shipping and receiving of human tissue and hazardous supply items.
