RDA Equipment Applications Engineer

Ownership of one or more defect monitoring equipment types. Equipment setup, stability monitoring, capability improvement, and interaction with vendor reps for advanced functionality and application work. Application Ownership – Recipe Set Up and Data Analysis. Utilize assigned toolset, advanced recipe setup, and basic troubleshooting. Write or modify equipment recipes to support the needs of the RDA area; this includes both standard ("Process of Record" or POR) recipes as well as engineering (non-POR) recipes. Monitor and respond to recipe requests to validate completed requests and complete entries, and to provide the required documentation for any requested recipes. Perform basic and more advanced recoveries of down tools for assigned workstations. Drive software upgrades/improvements for the area and work with internal/external vendors for implementation. Monitor tool qualification SPC charts for deviations, initiate tool repair, and/or adjust limits as necessary. Collect and analyze tool/process data and suggest ways to improve performance and efficiency. Review recipe related alarm and error messages on an assigned toolset, document reaction to those alarms, and drive reduction of incidents. Ensure accurate logging of tools. Inform area engineering group and other affected areas of issues, tests, projects, and procedural changes. Collaborate with Equipment Owners and Shift teams for recipe related issues. Develop tool operation and recipe-writing processes, update respective procedures when gaps or improvements are identified. Provide training for area engineers and technicians on tool operation and recipe-writing. Participate in worldwide toolsharing forums, driving actions from the meeting. Work with vendor reps to audit new tools upon arrival to Micron. Coordinate use of available resources needed for installs/de-facilitations of tools. Collaborate with the Equipment Owner to formulate qualification plans for new tool installs and communicate plans to the group and engineering management. Align with all Micron policies regarding business ethics with regards to vendor interactions. Notify tool vendors regarding application issues and communicate with the vendor throughout the situation to understand progress, estimated return to production, and root cause of issues. Collaborate as needed with vendors for results regarding escalation on application issues. Collaborate with Equipment Owners and vendor representatives to identify software or hardware changes for longterm solutions to tool issues. Participate in shadowing/mentoring/training efforts within the department. Design and/or instruct classes for certification of others, based on materials learned from vendor, on-the-job training, or vendor best-known-method documents. Evaluate certification data to identify personal training gaps and increase skill level by pursuing area certifications. Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or related field and 1 year of experience in the job offered or in a RDA Equipment Applications Engineer -related occupation. Position requires experience in the following: • Engineering troubleshooting • Manufacturing process flows • Data flow to process controls • Standard data analysis • Statistics • Reporting software such as JMP, Matlab, Minitab, Tableau, etc. • Technical writing and presentation of technical materials.
