Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Rail Bridge Engineer, we'll count on you to:

The primary responsibilities will be to apply structural engineering and detailing techniques to support the development of bid plans for railroad bridges, retaining walls, box culverts and associated railroad structures. Analysis, design, and detailing will be included. Daily activities may also include utilizing conventional AREMA bridge engineering design procedures, performing structural calculations, assisting with geometric layout, developing structural details, and using specialized software such as LARSA, MathCAD, LEAPBridge (CONSPAN), LPile, FB MultiPier and MicroStation. It is also expected that this person will assign, supervise, and review work and/or check design calculations, plans, estimates and specifications produced by junior engineers and Bridge EITs. Occasional bridge inspections of in-service bridges, or bridge construction, may be required. Concurrent project management, and task management, of smaller projects may also be included.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in civil engineeringExperience in rail bridge designProfessional Experience (PE) license.Experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design softwareExcellent communication skills and working in a team environmentAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in civil engineeringSE, or plan to obtain SE license7 years of experience in bridge and transportation structures design requiredAREMA design and railroad bridge inspection experienceTask management skillsFamiliarity with engineering software packages such as: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, MDX, SAP2000, CSiBridge, ADINA, RM Bridge, spColumn, LUSAS, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge
