Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Bridge EIT/Designer, we'll count on you to:

The primary responsibilities will be to apply structural engineering and detailing techniques to support the design and construction of railroad bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, and associated railroad structures for freight rail and transit clients. Additional duties include performing standard AREMA bridge analysis and design calculations, assisting with geometric layout, developing structural details, performing structural load rating calculations, quantity development, and using specialized software such as LARSA, MathCAD, LEAPBridge (CONSPAN), LPile, FB MultiPier and MicroStation. Occasional bridge inspections of in-service bridges or bridge construction, may be required. CADD plan production will also be required. This person will work under the direction of a Licensed Structural and/or Registered Professional Engineer on both local and national projects.

Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques in the development of bridge designsWork on projects that typically include bridge (steel plate girder, prestress concrete, segmental and cable) box culvert, and interchange design for highway and railway projectsSelect standard bridge engineering/design procedures, and develop structural details using specialized softwareParticipate in bridge inspection, perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity developmentPerform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil EngineeringMS Office, MathCAD and AutoCAD, LARSA and Prestress Concrete Design experienceStrong understanding and hands-on use of computers for structural layout and designGood communication skills and willing to work in a team environmentAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Civil EngineeringInterest in railroads and structuresExperience with structural analysis design programExperience with MicroStation or other CAD design softwarePreference given to local candidates with internship experience
