TITLE: Radiopharmaceutical Operations Technician

The TerraPower Isotopes® (TPI™) division has been established to pursue medical isotopes development: advancing nuclear science for significant human health benefits. We seek to support revolutionary radiotherapies for treatments of various cancers through the supply of radioisotopes, notably actinium-225. TerraPower currently has unique access to a supply of thorium for the long-term production of actinium-225 in the growing Targeted Alpha Therapy (TAT) market and may expand into other nuclear related medical treatments in the future.

Radiopharmaceutical Operations Technician
The Radiopharmaceutical Operations Technician is a key member of several teams across the Operations Department. This role entails a wide breadth including the handling of radioactive materials in a laboratory environment equipped with multiple fume hoods, gloveboxes, and hot cells.
Responsibilities:
• Perform radioisotope production related duties involving the separation, dispensing and packaging of material.
• Perform radioisotope processes using various isolator systems, including hot cells, manipulators and gloveboxes.
• Conduct radiation and contamination surveys.
• Assist in the collection, packaging, storage, and shipment of radiological waste.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance tasks such as filter replacement and equipment calibration.
• Conduct / assist in complex preventive and corrective maintenance tasks performed in a radiologically controlled work environment.
• Assist in maintaining inventory of parts, tools, and consumables.
• Assist in general laboratory housekeeping.
• Assist the customer operations team in product fulfillment to include order acknowledgement and dispensing of final isotope product, which may also include packaging, logistics and shipping.
• Perform equipment decontamination.
• Perform clerical and administrative services including maintenance of daily records, preparation of receipts, report preparation, and other document control in conformance with Good laboratory Practices (GxP).
• Develop procedures and documentation as required.
• Perform other tasks and duties as specified by management.
Key Qualifications and Skills
• This position interfaces with a dynamic interdisciplinary environment in which effective communication, teamwork and collaboration is required, while maintaining composure to act safely, ensure quality of data, and enable timely decision-making. The position will require good judgement in ensuring regulatory compliance while delivering on commercial production needs.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field. Equivalent experience may be substituted on a case by case basis.
• Experience performing exposure rate and contamination surveys and working in radiologically controlled areas.
• Experience in use of common powered and unpowered hand tools for use in minor repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Experience in the proper use of various Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and personal dosimetry.
• Must be able to operate with both hands in a glovebox and using manipulators in a hot cell. Experience with using hot cell manipulators is a plus.
• Must be able to perform routine physical tasks with and without respiratory protection and within confined spaces.
• Must be able to flex schedules along with other teammates if circumstances dictate. This may include rotating night, weekend, or holiday work.
• Must be able to read and follow technical instructions.
• Chemistry experience a plus.
• Experience in repair/maintenance/installation of mechanical equipment a plus.
• Experience in repair/maintenance/installation of electrical systems a plus.
• Experience as a veteran is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to write and develop procedures a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required.

• Motor Abilities: Sitting and standing for extended periods, bending/stooping, grasping/gripping with both hands (for glovebox operations and hot cell operations).
• Physical exertion and/or requirements: Moderate, with ability to safely lift up to 45 pounds and move heavy materials on a pallet jack.

Salary Range Level 8: $84,476 - $126,714
Salary Range Level 9: $95,415 - $143,122
*Typically, our employee salaries are within .90 – 1.0 of the mid-point of the posted salary bands. Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. This range is specific to Washington State.
