Job Overview:

A Radiologic Technologist performs routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the practice of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly. In addition, performance of routine radiology studies typical for a physician practice is expected. The duties of Radiology Technician vary from office to office, depending on the location and size of the practice and the practitioner's specialty.

Qualifications:

Required:

High School Diploma or GED Relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experienceMinimum two years experience in an x-ray department in a hospital or physicians office1-3 experience performing diagnostic radiographyCPR Certification approved by AHACertification by American Registry of Radiographic Technologist license and New Jersey state licenseKnowledge of medical terminologyKnowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook

Certifications and Licenses Required:

CPR Certification approved by AHACertification by American Registry of Radiographic Technologist license and New Jersey state license

Essential Functions:

Prepares patients for physician evaluationAssists physician with evaluation and treatment of patientAssists physician with special proceduresPerforms basic radiologist tests and oversees the production of x-raysMaintains accurate record of all x-ray films to include appropriate log entries, x-ray documentation for jackets and accurate filing of filmsCoordinates the reading of all x-ray films with physicianRelays information to patients regarding preparation of laboratory tests and examinations Arranges examining room instruments and equipment and keeps the examining rooms neat and cleanInitiating and maintaining correspondence with patients and insurance companiesRespects and maintains privacy and dignity of patients and assures patient confidentiality at all timesOther duties as assigned
