Radio (RF) Engineer/Designer
At Jacobs, we work on the engineering, procurement, and implementation of a broad range of applied systems and technologies with focus on Radio (RF), Microwave, Land Mobile Radio (LMR), communications, and fiber optic telecommunication networks and systems. Our projects include wireless systems, network technologies, and fiber/copper infrastructure spanning a wide range of systems to include wave division multiplexing to all areas of wireless technologies. By joining us as a Radio (RF) Designer/Engineer, you will provide design and engineering execution of small/medium/large projects, represent Jacobs to our clients, and work with internal and external staff. You will receive guidance from our Regional Manager of Systems & Technology and coordinate with the communications, electrical, and other subject matter experts located in diverse offices to complete the project’s requirements. We will ask you to be responsible for the design and implementation of technology-based systems on a design-bid-build, design build, or turnkey basis. Help us with the day-to-day execution of project plans and designs. You will also assist with the monitoring and reporting of project progress, and development of project deliverables. Initial Qualifications: * Candidate must have a valid driver’s license, have a vehicle available and have the ability to travel within the Northeast or as required. * Candidate must be willing to travel on occasion and as required by the projects and adhere to Jacobs Policies and procedures. * May occasionally be required to work outdoors in various geographic regions and in wide variety of weather conditions and facilities. * May be required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. of equipment. * May be required to traverse underground tunnel and railroad right of way environments. * Candidate must recognize the need and be willing to work non-business hours as required. This may involve nights and weekends. * BS or MS in communications, electrical engineering. * 5+ years of post-graduate years of experience with demonstrated progression of responsibility, including design, engineering, and implementation experience. * Experience collaborating with teams comprised of multiple technical disciplines to execute technical work plans while maintaining project budgets and schedules. * Experience in RF installations and evaluating the clients’ field communication needs. * Background in systems testing and commissioning. * Knowledge of and practical working experience in the design and implementation of RF communications systems technologies and their applications. * RF/Wireless infrastructure design and/or optimization experience supporting Radio (RF)/ Wireless systems with experience in LTE, 5G NR, Wi-Fi and/or LMR networks for above ground, in-building, and underground applications. * Knowledge of and practical working experience with Microsoft Office productivity suite including Word, Excel, Visio, Project, and PowerPoint. * Knowledge of and practical working experience with software programs to include but not limited to RF Modeling software such as iBwave, LMR, EDX, or others. Nice to Have: * EIT or P.E. * iBwave Design Certification (Level 2 preferred) * Network design experience supporting: * RF - Tetra, 7/8/900, V/UHF Radio, 4/5G, etc. * RF over Fiber designs * Structured cabling infrastructure, grounding, telecommunications equipment room, and Data Center designs. * Knowledge of and practical working experience with applicable codes, standards, and regulations to include IEEE, FCC, ADA, NEC, NFPA, and others as it pertains to communications systems designs. * Primavera or other scheduling software, ProjectWise, SharePoint, or other web-based data sharing programs/applications Jacobs is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
