Position Overview:

Prepare immobilization devices and positions patient for initial definition of tumor volume to be determined by the physician. Films specified treatment volume for review and approval.Marks/tattoos body anatomy for daily positioning on linear accelerator. Documents or captures patient measurements and machine treatment parameters for dosimetry planning and calculations. Acquires CT datasets for patient positioning, contours and setup parameters.Verifies beam parameters, ancillary aids and blocking including record and verification systems on machine and the patient's computerized treatment plan, before initiation of radiation beam.Maintains records of daily treatments and documents any corrections resulting from changes in the originally prescribed course of treatment.Performs daily QA on linear accelerators, simulator and CT to verify accurate output of designated parameters.Participates or provides assistance with in-vivo dosimetry measurements and special dosimetry.Provides education and support to patient level of understanding and motivation. Includes family/caregiver in education and training.
